The Ponte Vedra High School lacrosse squad took down undefeated juggernaut Lake Mary in Naples on Thursday and will now vie for the state championship Saturday.
The Sharks (19-3) will confront St. Thomas Aquinas of Fort Lauderdale at high noon for the 2A crown.
All-American senior Mason Hauseman whipped home the game winner in overtime to book Ponte Vedra’s ticket to the finale.
The St. Johns school is hoping to add a second state crown to its trophy case six years after winning it all in 2019.
Hauseman’s sudden death rocket set off a wild celebration on the field as sticks and helmets flew into the air and Shark backers erupted on the sidelines.
Ponte Vedra had gone up 9-8 with just 24 ticks left in regulation before the Seminole County school tied it with just 10 seconds left to play.
But Hauseman, who will play for Jacksonville University next year, sent the Rams to pasture just 37 seconds into the extra stanza.
The standout logged three goals on the day, while Flagler College bound Camden Ezring also notched a hat trick.
Aquinas (20-3) advanced after eliminating Plant High School 9-6.
