The prolific power couple behind local favorites Valley Smoke and the Fish Camp mini-chain have applied to build a pair of commercial structures in Ponte Vedra Beach, The Citizen has learned.

Ben and Liza Groshell, proprietors of Southern Table Hospitality, have submitted paperwork proposing to develop a 2,500 square-foot office and 7,500 square foot warehouse at 276 N. Roscoe Blvd.

The buildings would sit on a one-acre plot near two of their eateries.

The project would include paving, landscaping, utility infrastructure and a retention pond.

The Groshells have emerged as influential culinary tastemakers, with their portfolio of thriving restaurants regularly expanding.

The Southern Table stable currently boasts eight restaurants — including four Fish Camp locations.

Palm Valley Fish Camp at 299 N. Roscoe is situated across the street from the proposed project, and perennially packed Valley Smoke, which serves up BBQ and other southern staples alongside the Intracoastal Waterway, is just down the road.

“Our hands-on approach to hospitality, integrity, professionalism, dedication, discipline and innovation are the core values we stand by,” Groshell writes on the Southern Table website.
