A new Walmart Supercenter could soon land in St. Augustine.
According to paperwork filed with St. Johns County, the retail behemoth wants to develop a site at 3405 International Golf Parkway near Tocoi High School.
“Development includes construction of the Walmart Supercenter with associated parking area, utility infrastructure, and stormwater management area,” the company’s filing states.
The project would sit on 53 acres.
The plan would also include two right turn lanes off of International Golf Parkway, and two right turn lanes and one left turn lane off of a proposed St. Johns Parkway extension.
Walmart is the world’s largest company by revenue, with fiscal year 2023 intake of $611 billion, according to Fortune magazine.

Wondering who is addressing the traffic issues that already exists along IGP. It already backs up off of I95 trying to get to Buccees and Costco. Now Bass Pro is about to open and there are several other building under construction along IGP. Something has to be done.
Isn’t that the truth!
NO ONE…. Haven’t u noticed. They want the tax dollars but don’t care how much we sit in bumper to bumper traffic.
They all are incompetent
And New Home Depot
Yes exactly as a civil engineer, does the County know how to read traffic studies or the County council is just part of the big swamp !
Need to vote them all out, maybe a recall is in order.
This has to be the dumbest management at all levels in the County, as they sure know how to ruin life in the County with all this overbuilding.
Looks like the circus and all the clowns are running the county….
This is the dumbest thing you could do to this area that has great potential to be a wonderful place to live. This is a school zone with children walking everywhere and the roads should be focused on first for the kids safety! Plus, not to mention the rift raft that Walmarts bring in. Why would you bring more safety issues to this area? Move it to SilverLeaf. Do not do this! Another thing, there are not enough resources for this area and at some point the fast growth has to slow so we can keep this area clean, orderly and most importantly safe! If you care at all about the kids, you won’t allow this to happen. This area use to be so nice and everyone is ruining it and it’s like you don’t care anything about the people who have been here since the beginning. I’m so tired of seeing the irresponsible drivers in the school zones, they are all adults, kids have the right of way and the roads need better lightning and view of crosswalks ASAP. I’m so shocked how selfish this town has gotten.
Ugh. Terrible spot, this should go on the other side of 95.
There’s no room on the other side either with all the residential building going on.
No this belongs on US-1 plenty of roadways
The county needs to fix all infrastructure before any new building should be allowed
Exactly thank you!
I for one am excited about this. With growth we all need places an opportunities to come in.
Isn’t that where the logistics center is being built?
Let’s hope it does not. They do not maintain their properties and attract crime. Lower property value.
I am very happy about this! We just have to plan when to drive on IGP.
We do not want a Walmart! We want better roads, a target and a Trader Joe’s.
I read Target is going in Silverleaf
This cannot happen. Traffic is literally at a stand still in the mornings and afternoons when the elementary and high schools are getting out. And SR16/International Golf are literally the only possible ways to get to 95 or US 1. There are no other roads that will get us out of the WGV area.
I am very glad to get a Walmart nearby. I have written Darden several times requesting an Olive Garden. I would also like a Jason’s Deli for some healthy too please- LOL.
Yes!! With today’s food prices it would be a relief, Publix is overwhelmed and can’t keep up , and would keep prices competitive. Also would be a home store as well, nothing around here and have to drive into town . Lets hope people don’t push back on a well needed store , especially how high food prices are
Publix is not overwhelmed lol
Always putting the cart before the horse in this county by overdeveloping before infrastructure upgrades. This is why we have crappy traffic and portable classrooms outside of brand new schools. Maybe someday the city council won’t be bought and we can stop doing things a$$ backwards. Maybe not…
I agree on Walmart 😁
The traffic is HORRENDOUS! I cannot even imagine what happens today when bass pro opens! And now a home depot and walmart?! YIKES
There is plenty of room on US1 in South St. Augustine near State Rd. 206. The Walmart on US 1 is terrible they should be remodeling that one or tearing it down.
How do we place a vote? We don’t need a Walmart. We need a Library for our kids!
Yes please where can we vote against this? A library is a way better idea! Thank you. If you find any information please let me know. The citizens opinions matter, our children matter the most.
None of us want this here! St. John’s County has been stuffing things over here that we don’t want And that just keep making our traffic worse and worse. We moved here to get away from this and now you’re gonna put in a freaking Walmart super center! What kind of brain damage do the people making these decisions actually have!
Wishing it was a Target!!
This is CRAZY!!! The TRAFFIC IS PRESENTLY HAZARDOUS. ROUTE 95 IS LIKE PLAYING “DODGE-UMS OR RUSSIAN ROULET WITH VEHICLES.
MAKE SURE YOUR INSURANCE IS PAID BEFORE GETTING ON 95.
Well I’ve lived here my whole life actually back when it was just 9 mile road . It makes me sad to see my hometown vanish before my eyes. I miss the long quite roads and trees and fields for as long as you can imagine. This is my hometown. Although with due time everything changes IT SADDENS me . HEY HERE’S AN IDEA maybe if we just get a sign at the FLORIDA LINE that say ” TURN BACK FL IS FULL” Then maybe the bumper to bumper wouldn’t be so bad. I’ve road horse back so many day right down the side of , what it’s called now IGP that seeing it now is like wow . It was the mill creek and a store for as long as I could remember . Mister Horton god rest his soul kept his land and refused to sell . Thank you for being a smart man and leaving a slice of my hometown For us that has lived here since we were born! This is kinda Off topic but listen to the song called …. 9 mile road by randy Dukes . Its a song about the road yall now call home if you live here now. People… more road and more stores mean less animals . This is running our wild.life out as well shaking my head.

Keep Walmart away from IGP!! It should not go near an elementary, middle, and high school. Use some common sense. This is not safe and not good for traffic! WGV is not the right place for a Walmart. Don’t ruin WGV because you can’t be inconvenienced to drive 20 minutes to Walmart.
