A proposed 180,000 sq. ft. Walmart Supercenter slated to rise in St. Augustine will bring eight additional retail projects along with it, new filings show.
Renderings indicate that the big box giant will be joined by four fast food restaurants, two stores, and a pair of gas stations — one of which will be a Walmart fuel center.
The other gas station will include a convenience store.
After weeks of feverish speculation, one of the fast food joints was identified as a Chick-Fil-A.
The retail juggernaut plans to develop 43 acres at 3405 International Golf Parkway near Tocoi High School
The area has rapidly become a big box cluster, with the proposed Walmart situated about 2.2 miles from an existing Buc-ee’s and a new Bass Pro Shops.
While some residents have applauded the expanded retail options in the area, others worry that the commercial explosion will worsen traffic.
But local officials have limited recourse in addressing those concerns since the developer secured the requisite entitlements in 2003.
Walmart is the world’s largest company by revenue, with fiscal year 2023 intake of $611 billion, according to Fortune magazine.

what are the 2 stores?
Fed up with this bs of removing every tree you all see! You are putting us in prison! You build shit fast but forget the roads! Can’t stand the commissioners of this county!
What do the current commissioners have to do with this? This was all approved over 20 years ago. The county commissioners in office right now have zero power over this.
HATE HATE HATE THIS! Is there anything we can do to stop it?
Don’t blame the developers for all the traffic there. Blame the county school board for expanding Mill Creek Elementary into a K-8 and then building a brand new high school, Tocoi Creek, there. It’s been known for at least 20 years that the land across the street from the schools was going to be developed into commerce. Why add all that school traffic there too?
Infuriating. It will hurt property values.
Just what we need, more gas stations, fast food and traffic. How to ruin a nice area with junk we do not need or want. I am so frustrated.
Wow! …just what they need there! Right off I95…..unbelievable.
we are pushing out the wildlife!!! I hate this!!!!! We are destroying St Johns county.
St. Johns County Commissioners need to put a 3-5 year freeze on developement of International Golf Parkway west of I-95. When I moved into WGV 8 years ago it was the quiet and peaceful atmosphere I wanted to retire in. The county commissioners with their greedy hands out trying to collect permit money and sales tax income have ruined the WGV area. Even the State of Florida said 3 or 4 years ago they would put a direct exit at MM323 to enter Buccee’s and Costco’s to reduce traffic at the WGV Cascades entrance. All construction W of I-95 on International Golf Parkway needs to be stopped until the state can improve the roadwork in the area to handle the increase numbers in the traffic .
