Longhorns, short flights.

Delta Airlines will begin nonstop flights to Austin, Texas out of Jacksonville International Airport beginning in May of 2025, officials announced this week.

Need to get to Big Ten country? The Austin news comes one week after JIA revealed that Allegiant Airlines will start running nonstops to Des Moines, Iowa, Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Akron-Canton Airport in Ohio.

“We love new nonstops!” the airport said in announcing the upgraded services.

Meanwhile, our cozy local transportation hub cautioned travelers to arrive at least two hours ahead of their flights amid a surge in Thanksgiving travel this week.

The facility is expected to host 15,000 flyers on peak travel days, including Nov. 27 and Dec. 1-2.

“On-airport parking will fill up,” JIA said on Instagram. “Consider off-airport parking, rideshares, or a drop-off.”
