While property crime victims across the nation howl about a lack of police indifference, a pair of St. Johns County residents had a different tale to tell.

Ray Walker and his neighbor called the department in April after their home security cameras captured two suspects vandalizing a vehicle on their block.

Deputy Taylor Parker took the call and pledged to probe the incident.

“It was evident that Deputy Parker was interested in more than just the report and provided assurances she would put forth a genuine effort to find the vandals,” Ray Walker said.

Parker launched an exhaustive probe, using “electronic resources” to identify the alleged crooks who were later hit with criminal mischief raps.

Sheriff Hardwick and Walker presented the officer with a Saint Michael Challenge Coin this week to thank her for her efforts.
