A Florida State student described seeing a gunman target a maintenance worker and groups of students during Thursday’s mass shooting in Tallahassee.

The unnamed witness told local reporters he suddenly saw people frantically running from gunshots, pouring out of a campus building as a maintenance worker waved them away from the area.

“He saw the maintenance guy who was waving everybody,” the student said. “He probably heard him and turned and shot that way — toward our direction.”

The witness said one bullet struck a golf cart, which blocked it.

The shooter then pivoted and aimed toward students fleeing from a nearby green.

“He didn’t shoot many shots when he came outside,” the student said. “Maybe four or five shots. He shot two in our direction, and then he shot two in that direction — and that’s the girl who got shot over here and was laying down for a while.”

Videos circulating on social media showed medics tending to a bloodied female victim.

“They stretchered her off,” the student added. “She looked like she was alive. But I’m not sure. I hope that she is.”

The shooter then reentered the building.

The student said a swarm of police officers descended on the scene shortly afterward.

While reports of multiple shooters circulated, the witness said he only saw one in his area.

“I’m glad I’m alive,” he said. “I’m glad that my maintenance guy — who was helping everybody — didn’t get hit. It’s crazy. It’s sick. There are sick people in this world.”
