The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office released pulse-pounding footage Thursday of deputies rescuing a couple and their dog after their boat capsized.

The footage shows the man and woman precariously straddling the overturned underside of their vessel at 3 p.m. on Feb. 15 — along with a drenched pooch.

The footage shows SJSO Deputy Rich Michaux inching a police boat toward the stricken trio in choppy waters in the St. Augustine Inlet.

“The weather conditions on the water that day were poor,” the department noted in a Facebook post. “Strong winds and large swells made for rough seas.”

His partner, Deputy Andrew Weintraub, can then be seen reaching out his hand and yanking the female onto the boat.

The panting man then hands the dog over before being hoisted up onto the police vessel to safety.

Stressed but safe, the couple and the dog were taken to the Vilano Fishing Pier without injury.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue and St. Augustine Fire Department Marine Units also assisted in response to this rescue.
