A St. Johns County man has been arrested after investigators say he and two accomplices stole two fully equipped police vehicles from a local dealership.
According to an arrest warrant, the incident happened in the early morning hours of January 4, 2026, at Bozard Ford in St. Augustine.
Authorities say Kenyata Hayes and two unidentified individuals took two unmarked police vehicles from the dealership’s lot between about 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m.

Investigators believe the group acted together.
Both vehicles were equipped with law enforcement gear, including emergency lights, radios, and other specialized equipment.
The total value of the vehicles was $152,496, with each one valued at $76,248. The dealership reported the loss and chose to pursue charges.
Investigators say Hayes was identified using multiple sources of evidence, including surveillance footage from traffic and private cameras, along with data from the Flock Safety camera system, which captures license plates and tracks vehicle movements.
Authorities also cited cellphone data and witness statements.
Hayes was arrested on March 26 in Jacksonville, papers state.
He now faces four felony charges: two counts of grand theft for property valued between $20,000 and $100,000, and two counts related to stealing law enforcement equipment from emergency vehicles.
The case is ongoing.
