Teen in critical condition after being hit by car in Clay County crosswalk Thursday night

A Fleming Island teen remains in critical condition after being hit by a car while crossing a crosswalk in Clay County Monday night, according to a report.

The accident took place around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Eagle Harbor Parkway and Town Center Boulevard, First Coast News reported, citing the Florida Highway Patrol.

The 15-year-old was struck by a 68-year-old female driver who did not see her in the crosswalk, according to the outlet.

The driver’s sedan struck the teen directly from the front.

The victim was transported to HCA Orange Park Hospital where she remains.

The unidentified girl is a student at Fleming Island High School.

Administrators have made counselors available in the wake of the accident.

The driver was uninjured, and no charges have been filed in the case.
