It’s a test-ament to hard work.
A talented total of 35 St. Johns County seniors have qualified as 2025 National Merit Semi-Finalists, placing in the top 1% of all students who took the PSAT exam last year.
Roughly 1.3 million juniors from 21,000 schools across the country sat for the qualifying test to vie for $26 million in scholarship money made available by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
“About 95 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and about half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title,” the organization states on its web site.
The St. Johns County School Board celebrated the district’s academic stars at a recent meeting, with Superintendent Tim Forson giving each of them a special certificate.
Final scholarship winners will be announced by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation between April and July 2025.
