A lockdown at Landrum Middle School in Ponte Vedra Beach has been lifted after someone called in a threat to conduct a mass shooting on the campus, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
A male caller told an employee that he planned the act of violence., leading law enforcement to activate internal cameras at the site that relay images to their Real Time Intelligence Center.
“Landrum was placed on a hard lockdown while deputies searched the surrounding area,” SJSO told The Citizen in a statement.
School buses were rerouted to a nearby elementary school as the situation unfolded prior to the start of classes Monday.
The agency dispatched additional units to all St. Johns County schools in the wake of the threat.
“At this time, no suspect has been located and there is no evidence to support the threat is credible,” the department said.
The lockdown has now been lifted and classes have resumed.
