A St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputy was seriously injured early this morning following a single-vehicle crash in southern St. Johns County, according to authorities.
The crash occurred just after 4 a.m. on County Road 13 South near Hub Bailey Road in the Hastings area.
Officials said the deputy was on patrol at the time of the incident when the vehicle was involved in a crash for reasons that have not yet been determined.
St. Johns County Fire Rescue responded to the scene and transported the deputy to Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach.
Authorities said the deputy sustained serious but non life-threatening injuries and is currently receiving medical care.
Out of respect for the deputy and their family, the sheriff’s office said the deputy’s identity will not be released at this time.
Officials also confirmed there are no road closures or traffic delays in the area as a result of the crash.
The incident remains under investigation.
