The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of Corporal Andrew Mulally, who died Thursday following a lengthy fight with cancer.

Mulally, of St. Augustine, spent 12 years with the agency and was remembered for his dedication to both colleagues and the public he served.

Tragically, he leaves behind his wife, Nikki, and their two young daughters.

“Andrew’s devotion to this agency and to the citizens of St. Johns County was incredible, and he will be greatly missed,” the Sheriff’s Office said in announcing his passing. “Please keep the Mulally family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

The community rallied behind Mulally as he bravely combated an illness that exacted a suffocating emotional and financial toll on his young family.

A GoFundMe campaign first organized three years described how the longtime deputy had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer that had spread to his liver.

“Andrew has a wife and two young daughters he supports, and the medical bills are adding stress to their lives,” the initial fundraiser read. “Now is the time to give back.”

Nikki had shared updates through the fundraising page over the years, noting that Mulally underwent a series of grueling infusions and chemotherapy pills to keep the cancer at bay.

In an April post, she wrote that the family had been focused on “making all the memories and spending as much time with Andrew as God blesses us with.”

Nikki thanked friends and co-workers for helping care for their daughters and pets during hospital stays, and said the community’s generosity was sustaining them.

With his passing this week, the family’s pain has entered a new stage. The community that had mobilized during his treatment is now continuing to support his wife and daughters as they face life without him.

“Never forget,” the agency wrote in its statement Thursday.
