A bicyclist has died after colliding with a vehicle on South Holmes Boulevard, authorities said.
The crash occurred on a stretch of the road between Butler and the SR 312 extension, which has no sidewalk or dedicated bike lane.
According to St. Johns County Fire Rescue spokesperson Chris Naff, the male bicyclist was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office later confirmed his passing.
South Holmes Boulevard remains closed between Butler and the SR 312 extension.
Officials warn that road closures could last several hours while the crash is investigated.
Authorities have not released details about the driver of the vehicle or any charges at this time.
