The St. Johns County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller’s Office is partnering with Flagler College to create a new internship program for students interested in public service, law, criminology, and public affairs.
The program, named Saints in Public Service, will offer participants hands-on experience in local government and its functioning.
“Saints in Public Service connects classroom learning with real-world local government experience,” said Clerk and Comptroller Brandon J. Patty. “Through our partnership with Flagler College, we’re helping prepare St. Johns County’s next generation of public-sector leaders.”

The program will assign three Flagler College students in the Criminal, Civil, and Public Affairs divisions, including the Teen Court Program, according to a release.
Each intern will focus on one division, developing project-based experience and exposure to court operations and county services.
“We are proud to partner with the Clerk’s Office to create pathways for students to serve their community while gaining professional experience,” said Beth Sweeny, Flagler College Director of External and Government Relations and Mayor of St. Augustine Beach.
Interns will work with mentors, assist with projects, and attain skills directly applicable to public service careers in public service, law, IT, or communications.
They will also explore other county offices and local agencies as part of the program.
Participants will receive formal recognition for their contributions to bolster their CVs upon completion.
