St. Johns County has advanced plans for a Fire Rescue Training Facility — a project designed to sharpen skills, boost safety, and prepare local first responders for whatever emergencies come their way.
Phase 1 — approved by the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners on Tuesday — includes site evaluation, environmental studies and the development of a phased plan and cost estimates.

The contract for the initial stage won’t exceed $297,986.25.
When completed, the Fire Rescue Training Facility at 3111 Agricultural Center Drive in St. Augustine will provide a state of the art training space for firefighters, paramedics, and other emergency responders.
Planned features include classrooms and administrative offices, fire training towers and extrication and urban search and rescue areas.
Construction will unfurl as funding becomes available, officials said.
“This facility is about readiness,” said Fire Rescue Chief Sean McGee in a statement. “It will allow our teams to train in realistic environments, improve coordination, and enhance firefighter safety.”
The project is funded partly by a $7.5 million state legislative appropriation included in the county’s Fiscal Year 2026 Capital Improvement Budget.
