The project aims to open in the third quarter of 2026.

A new kind of shopping and dining destination is setting sail along Old Moultrie Road:

The Outpost at Old Moultrie, a permanent retail village built from shipping containers, is now leasing spaces as it moves closer to a grand opening in the third quarter of 2026.

The project is the brainchild of St. Johns County residents Justin and Jessica Tahilramani, a husband-and-wife team who relocated with their two children after careers in the military.

“We’ve had a great response so far, fantastic feedback” Tahilramani told The Citizen. “We think this will provide opportunities for local, smaller businesses and reduce barriers to entry. And this is for locals, not just tourists.”

Fourteen container spaces at the nearly two-acre parcel at 2505 Old Moultrie Road are now available for lease through Amanda Kincade and Cameron Mesh of Kincade Commercial Real Estate, with rates starting at $1,400 per unit.

Spaces start at $1,400 a month.

The containers, currently being fabricated in Ohio, will be craned into place on site and outfitted for food service or retail.

The site offers road front visibility along Old Moultrie, a small stage for live performances, a playground, and open areas for community gatherings — amenities designed to attract a built-in audience.

One minor hurdle, he said, is the village’s proximity to churches, which complicates its ability to serve alcohol.

“We could use some community support on that,” he added, noting that the project will apply for a variance to allow alcohol service.

You can follow the project on Facebook and Instagram.

“Everyone is really excited for the project,” he said. “We can’t wait. There’s already a lot here for tourists. But this is really a spot for locals. We love the area, and we think this is a fantastic location.”
