A search for a missing St. Augustine woman’s remains at an abandoned commercial property turned up no new evidence, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
The agency said it vetted a former car dealership and pool store on US 1 South Wednesday based on a tip from Laura Bryant’s family.
The 44-year-old woman vanished in 2022, and her relatives wrote on social media that they believe she had been buried underneath pavers on the lot.
“Following a day long search of a property in the 2500 block of US-1 South, no new evidence to further the investigation into the whereabouts of Laura Bryant was located,” the department wrote on Facebook.
SJSO worked with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and Clay County Fire Rescue’s cadaver K9 team in conducting the search.
“Bryant’s disappearance is still an active investigation and Detectives are still seeking information from the public,” the agency wrote, urging anyone with information to call (904) 824-8304 or write to crimetips@sjso.org.
Bryant’s relatives did not indicate why they thought she was buried at the location, and have not commented beyond social media posts and emails to news outlets.
SJSO Bryant lived in St. Augustine but may have moved to Lake City prior to her disappearance.
