The new owners of the old Kings Head British Pub are mixing beer and ballots.

Sean and Ashley Hassan, who recently closed on the 3.5-acre parcel as part of a larger ownership group, decided to let the public name their new enterprise.

The couple fielded a flood of suggestions in recent days and unveiled their seven finalists this week.

“We received so many great suggestions both via social media and from speaking with people,” they wrote on the “unnamed pub” account. “We know the options might not please everyone, but we’d still appreciate your vote!”

The husband and wife — who’ve been busily renovating the property with the help of their kids — told The Citizen last week that they plan to create a Eurocentric beer nirvana with an emphasis on outdoor seating.

Here are the finalists for the pub’s name, along with a brief explanation from the owners.

The Honey Hole Public House: “Because of our friend Beth.”

The Wobbly Whale Public House: “It’s fun and welcoming with a coastal feel.”

The Celtic Camel Public House: “It’s a play on the heritage of some of the owners and will make cool merch.”

Cormorant’s Cottage Public House: “A common aquatic bird found in our local waters.”

That Good One Public House: “A play on the meaning of one of the owners’ last names and US 1.”

Admiral’s Anchor Public House: “A nod to Pedro Menendez and local history.”

The Hippo’s Pear Public House: “A reference to the pear tree incident in St. Augustine from Confessions by St. Augustine of Hippo.”

    1. The Honey Hole…less complicated. Others are too long and hard to remember. Honey Hole will stick.

    2. “The Crane’s Leap”

Homage to “The King’s Head” with a nod to the local Sand Hill Cranes in the area. file:///var/mobile/Library/SMS/Attachments/dd/13/AF5EA580-9C21-4443-BF21-354BC0D3D8C6/IMG_2201.heic

    3. Admiral’s Anchor Public House sounds intriguing and very special with nod to local history

    4. Wobbly Whale sounds like you’re copying the band Wobbly Tom’s, also sounds like you’re copying Hippo popsicles. Admirals Anchor would be my vote.
