A private Christian school wants a permanent campus in St. Augustine as it looks to consolidate its growing student body in one location.
Veritas Classical School, founded in 2017, has applied for a rezoning to develop a new complex at 635 S. Holmes Blvd., according to an application submitted to St. Johns County.
The school bought the 32.6-acre site for $1.6 million last year, according to county records.

Plans call for an initial 10,240-square-foot school building to replace an existing single-family home.
Two additional buildings — measuring 15,000 square feet and 10,924 square feet — are proposed for future phases.
Veritas currently operates out of two rented locations: one on FL-16 serving kindergarten through third grade, and another on Martin Luther King Avenue in Lincolnville for grades six through 12.
Tuition ranges from $12,400 for kindergarten to $14,725 for seniors, according to the school’s website.
The school offers a classical Christian education model.
“At the heart of classical education lies the Trivium—Latin for ‘the three ways’—which consists of Grammar, Logic, and Rhetoric,” the school’s site states. “This framework allows students to engage with their education in a way that capitalizes on their developmental strengths.”
Enrollment has grown steadily since its founding, hiking from 45 students to 235 students as of 2023, according to the school.
The rezoning request will be presented to the county’s Planning and Zoning Board in the near future.
