A Ponte Vedra Boulevard home belonging to a revered Vail, Colorado, businessman and civic leader who passed away last year has hit the market for $23.5 million—a sum that would break the St. Johns County sales record if realized.

Rodney Slifer, the founder and longtime principal of a prominent Vail real estate firm, died in February 2024.

According to an obituary in The Denver Post, the native Coloradan was instrumental in helping Vail become one of the world’s premier skiing destinations.

He maintained a lifelong commitment to his local community and twice served as the town mayor.

Slifer’s second home—a sumptuous oceanfront mansion at 57 Ponte Vedra Boulevard—was placed on the market over the weekend by top local broker Jennifer White of Ponte Vedra Club Realty.

If the home sells for close to the asking price, it would break the standing St. Johns County residential sales record.

Former T-Mobile CEO John Legere secured the estate at 349 Ponte Vedra Boulevard for $22 million in January 2024.

Built in 2008, the Slifer estate commands 100 feet of prime beachfront and is positioned near the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, according to the listing.

The Tuscan-style mansion features six bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms, spans 8,282 square feet, and sits atop a 0.77-acre lot.

Slifer, the obituary notes, passed away in St. Johns County.

Known for his genial spirit and humble manner, Slifer’s death prompted an outpouring of grief in Vail, with his memorial service drawing hundreds to the town’s Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater.
