Two residents of the same St. Johns County town won $1 million paydays.

The Florida Lottery announced that two locals — both from Ponte Vedra Beach — each won $1 million paydays in a scratch-off game.

Walter Sheard, 77, and Natwar Patel, 67, both claimed their 500X The Cash winners on the same day in September and opted for lump sum checks of $640,000.

Lottery administrators have 90 days to identify winners unless waived.

The odds of landing the seven-figure payday in the game is 1-in-274,004. and the tickets cost $50 a piece to play.

Sheard scored his winning ticket from a Publix at 670 Marsh Landing Parkway in Jacksonville Beach, while Patel got lucky at a Murphy USA gas station at 1570 Branan Field Road in Middleburg.

A Jacksonville Beach man named Dale Rosato, 51, was announced another $1 million winner in the same game last week.

All told, eight St. Johns Clay and Duval residents have hit the jackpot on 500X The Cash this year.
