Wildly popular V Pizza is expanding once again — this time into Durbin Crossing — with plans for an 8,000-square-foot restaurant with outdoor seating proceeding quickly.
The Jacksonville-based mozzarella maestros bought the property at 150 Longleaf Pine Parkway for $1.87 million on June 4, paving the way for the new outpost, according to the Jacksonville Daily Record.
The site is situated west of St. Johns Parkway in a dcommercial center anchored by the Borland Groover Durbin Crossing Endoscopy Center.
The expansion will be the mini-chain’s third location in St. Johns County and its 14th across Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina.
Founded in 2014 in Jacksonville’s San Marco neighborhood, V Pizza has gained a devoted following for its wood-fired pizzas that slide out of imported Italian brick ovens.
According to its website, the “V” stands for Veloce — Italian for “fast” — referencing the restaurant’s 900° ovens that cook pizzas in just 90 seconds.
The bran also draws consistent crowds for their their skillfully charred wings and expansive cocktail lists.
The chain made waves in December after tweaking its dough recipe to guard against sagging slices.
