A pedestrian was fatally hit by a train Friday, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
The accident took place at Lewis Speedway and U.S. 1, officials said in a brief statement.
North and southbound lanes remain open, but east and westbound lanes have been closed.
“There is a large law enforcement presence in the area,” SJSO said.
The SJSO Major Crimes Unit is investigating.
