Krista Joseph announced Tuesday that she will seek another term on the St. Johns County Board of County Commissioners, marking the start of her reelection campaign with a message posted to Facebook.
“I can’t believe it has been 4 years to the day,” Joseph wrote, reflecting on her time in office. She encouraged supporters to visit her campaign website and “be part of the continued movement to take back St. Johns County.”
Joseph’s first term has been defined by a platform centered on managing growth and curbing large-scale development.

Joseph has argued that rapid expansion is placing strain on infrastructure, the environment, and quality of life in the county.
Her announcement cited her opposition to clearcutting, reduction of taxes, and slowing the pace of development as signature accomplishments.
Jospeh’s positions have at times led to sharp exchanges on the dais, where she has been outspoken on land use and zoning decisions while representing District 4.

Following her announcement, fellow commissioner Ann Taylor voiced support, responding that she was “very grateful to hear” the news and that “the county continues to need you.” Taylor has often been aligned with Joseph on key growth-related issues.
Joseph’s campaign also comes during a period of personal hardship. A Gold Star mother, she recently experienced the loss of her husband after his battle with ALS.
The upcoming race is already beginning to take shape. Two challengers, land use planner Heather Neville and retired law enforcement officer Sam Williams, have entered the contest in recent weeks.

District 2 Incumbent Sarah Arnold has yet to announce that she’s running again, while former FBI agent Martin Pyszczymuka has already thrown his hat into the ring.
Signaling political alignment with Joseph, Pyszczmuka applauded her announcement Tuesday.
“You are a true champion for the people,” he wrote on Facebook. “I look forward to serving with you and ensuring the future of St. Johns County is protected for all residents.”
