A Ponte Vedra Boulevard oceanfront estate that once aimed to break St. Johns County’s residential sales record has sold for $18.75 million—cementing one of the region’s standout closings of the year.
The sprawling oceanfront residence hit the market in March 2024 with a headline-making price tag of $23.25 million, a figure that would have surpassed the county’s single-family sales record if achieved.
Even after a reduction to $21.25 million, the property remained among the most expensive active listings along Northeast Florida’s coast.

Its Nov. 21 sale at $18.75 million still ranks as one of the priciest transactions ever recorded in St. Johns County.
The Tuscan-style mansion belonged to the late Rodney Slifer, a prominent Vail, Colorado, businessman and real estate visionary who passed away in February 2024.
Slifer was a cornerstone of Vail’s development and identity, known not only as a founder and longtime principal of Slifer Smith & Frampton Real Estate, but also as a two-time mayor who played a central role in shaping the iconic ski town into the destination it is today.
Represented by Jennifer White of Ponte Vedra Club Realty, the Atlantic-front estate occupies 100 feet of pristine beachfront and sits just steps from the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club.

Built in 2008, the 8,282-square-foot home boasts Mediterranean-inspired architecture, featuring six bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms, expansive indoor-outdoor entertainment spaces, and sweeping ocean views across its 0.77-acre lot.
For now, the county’s top residential sales mark remains untouched: former T-Mobile CEO John Legere’s $22 million purchase of a nearby estate at 349 Ponte Vedra Boulevard in January 2024 continues to hold the title.
