A Nocatee man suffered serious injuries late Saturday night after falling from an electric device and hitting the ground, sources told The Citizen.

Emergency units rushed to a path behind the community’s Splash Water Park after shocked witnesses saw the aftermath of the accident.

One person said they believed he had fallen off a single-wheel hoverboard and hit his head, but officials have not confirmed what he was riding.

Nearby pickleball and basketball courts were crowded with people at the time, several of whom rushed to the man’s aid and called 911.

The victim was loaded onto an ambulance as distraught family members arrived and frantically asked emergency responders about his condition.

Witnesses — several of them crying — were interviewed by St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

A police helicopter landed in the middle of a Nocatee soccer field nearby, and a source said the man was going to be airlifted to a local hospital.

His condition is unknown at this time.
