The Nocatee community is rallying around the family of Andrea Delany, who passed away on November 8 after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest triggered by an asthma attack.
Her death came without warning.
According to her husband, Ryan Delany, she had spent two weeks in a coma-like state in hospice care before her vitals went silent.
“Life, as it turns out, is incredibly fragile,” Delany wrote in a wrenching LinkedIn post that described the shock of losing his wife of 16 years.
Andrea leaves behind two children, Devika, 14, and Logan, 12, whose futures she was deeply committed to shaping, Ryan wrote.
In the fraught days following her death, friends, colleagues, and Ryan’s coffee-industry community began organizing efforts to stabilize the suddenly fractured family.
Central among those efforts is a GoFundMe education fund for the children, established to honor Andrea’s wish that both attend college.
According to the family, all contributions to the fund — which has raised $6,000 thus far — will be placed into education trusts for each child.
Those who knew Andrea described her as an active and unwavering presence in her children’s lives.
She personally tutored them in violin and music, attended all their field trips, and volunteered at every concert and school event, Delany wrote.
In his public message, Andrea’s husband reflected on the tension he felt about sharing his family’s tragedy, noting that he normally posts about work and more routine matters.
Moved by the enormity of the moment, he chose to speak openly about the loss and the life his children and he now must navigate.
He encouraged others to hold on tightly to their own joyful moments — and “make an effort to commit those moments to memory.”
