A new 312-unit apartment complex called Velara is set to rise in Nocatee at the Duval and St. Johns county line, according to a press release.
Terre Haute, Indiana-based Thompson Thrift will develop the units along Burbank Avenue and expects the complex to be ready for occupancy in the summer of 2026.
The 12.5-acre complex will feature one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments, and residents will have access to all of Nocatee’s popular amenities.
“Nocatee has been one of the country’s fastest-selling master-planned communities, and there is significant demand for luxury multifamily living options,” Josh Purvis, managing partner for Thompson Thrift Residential, said in the release.
Construction on nine three-story buildings is set to begin this month.
On-site amenities include a covered pool deck and patio, private golf cart garages, and a sunken fire pit, according to the release.
“In addition to the on-site amenities, residents will also have access to the world-class amenities of Nocatee, such as a kayak launch, two waterparks, a 75-acre community park, various fitness trails, and Nocatee Town Center’s charming restaurants and stores, including the largest Publix in Northeast Florida.
Residents will also have access to a gym, dog park, pickleball court, and an outdoor gaming area.
According to the Jacksonville Daily Record, the Davis family sold the property to Thompson Thrift for $13 million.
Thompson Thrift is also developing a 324-unit apartment complex at the St. Augustine Outlets property off of I-95.
