A new cheerleading and tumbling facility could be coming to the Dobbs Road Business Center in St. Augustine if county officials approve a special use permit this week.
Cheerworks St. Augustine hopes to open a 3,000-square-foot indoor cheer and tumbling gym at 501 Marshall Circle, Units 505 and 506, according to an application filed with the county.
Because the site is zoned industrial, the project requires special approval from the St. Johns County Planning and Zoning Agency, which is scheduled to hold a hearing on the request this Thursday.
According to county planning documents, Cheerworks would operate entirely indoors with no outdoor activities.
Proposed hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and closed on Sundays except by appointment.
The schedule is intended to avoid conflict with surrounding warehouse operations, which typically take place during the day.
The building is part of a larger commercial site that includes 15,000- and 30,000-square-foot warehouse facilities and on-site parking.
Surrounding properties include other warehouse and flex space to the north, commercial uses to the south, and the Kings Trace subdivision located roughly 150 feet to the east.
