A national steakhouse chain wants to bring the sizzle to St. Johns County.
Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, which already operates a location at the St. Johns Town Center, has filed a pre-application to open a second local restaurant along Peyton Parkway in Durbin Park.
The new restaurant would be slightly larger than the existing Town Center location, measuring approximately 7,800 square feet compared with 6,355 square feet at the 2017 site, papers show.

Firebirds is known for its hand-cut steaks, seafood, chicken, and ribs, all cooked on its signature wood-fired grill. The chain combines rustic decor with a casual dining atmosphere.
Founded in Charlotte in 2000, Firebirds has steadily expanded in recent years and now operates roughly 70 locations.
The expansive menu features aged steaks, filet mignon, ribeye, roasted garlic sirloin and classic surf and turf.
“We are an American Restaurant and Steakhouse known for our scratch kitchen, bold flavors and inviting atmosphere,” the brand’s site reads. “Enjoy our signature menu items including hand-cut, aged steaks and fresh seafood or our specialty crafted cocktails and select wines.”
Durbin Park has become a growing dining corridor with a mix of full-service and fast-casual options, including Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux and Mellow Mushroom.
