Indian grocery chain Patel Brothers is planning a new location in St. Johns County, marking a major local expansion of the popular South Asian marketplace.
The company purchased approximately 4.25 acres at the developing Shops at Racetrack Road, where it intends to build a 20,000‑square‑foot store that will anchor the retail center at 4560 Racetrack Road.
The new store will be the second in Northeast Florida, joining the existing Patel Brothers location in Jacksonville on Baymeadows Road that has operated for about a decade.

St. Johns County’s Indian population — and fans of South Asian fare — have both boomed in recent years.
Patel Brothers was founded in 1974 and has grown into the largest Indian grocery brand in the country, with more than 50 stores nationwide.
Stores offer groceries, spices, and specialty food products — including freshly baked Indian breads.
The St. Johns County location will include a Patel’s Fresh Kitchen, which will serve prepared foods.
“At Patel Brothers, our mission is to bring the best ingredients from South Asia, right to your doorstep,” the brand’s website reads. “With a wide variety of authentic regional grocery and spice products, we strive to reconnect people with the familiar flavors of India.”
