An Orange Park military serviceman charged with killing two women late Wednesday night posted a heartfelt tribute to his wife on Facebook just days before the deadly double shooting.

Taylor Lomax, 22, is charged with two counts of unpremeditated murder following an incident on the 4400 block of Hanging Moss Drive, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say two women were shot and killed during the late-night episode. The victims have not been publicly identified, and investigators have not disclosed the relationship between Lomax and the women.

In the Facebook post written last Friday, Lomax marked the couple’s first wedding anniversary, writing about their life together and the milestones they had reached in a short time.

“One year ago, we embarked on this incredible journey together,” he wrote.

Lomax referenced buying their first home and starting a family, adding that he was grateful for his wife’s “loyalty and love.”

“You mean the world to me, and I am forever grateful to have you by my side,” he wrote.

The post included several photos and videos of the couple together and with their infant child.

Just hours before the shooting, Lomax posted several pictures posing with his infant son, including one shot of the tot sitting in a military aircraft.

Lomax was arrested shortly after midnight Thursday and booked into the Clay County Jail at 12:29 a.m., jail records show.

The sheriff’s office described the shooting as an isolated incident and said there is no threat to the community. Detectives remain on scene, and the investigation is ongoing.

Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, Lomax previously drew public attention for a widely shared moment involving his mother, an elementary school teacher.

After returning home from deployment last year, Lomax surprised her with a visit to her school, entering her classroom carrying flowers and embracing her as she cried. Video of the reunion circulated online and was featured in local news coverage.

“I missed you so much,” she can be heard saying on the clip.

In the days leading up to his arrest, Lomax’s social media accounts reflected a focus on family life and service. The anniversary post drew congratulatory comments from friends and acquaintances, many of whom praised the couple and celebrated the birth of their child.

The Citizen will continue to follow the case and provide updates as more information becomes available, including the identification of the victims and further findings from investigators.
