A St. Johns County fitness studio has announced its closure at the end of the year in a message taped to its door, according to startled members.
HiTone Fitness on U.S. 1 near Palencia will permanently shutter at the end of the year, according to the note.
“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and truly appreciate your understanding,” the owners told members. “Thank you for allowing us to to be a part of your lives and for the dedication and energy you brought through these doors.
The business was still active on social media just one week ago, and members said they were surprised by the closure.
Located at the Shoppes at Palencia Commons in St. Augustine in a complex anchored by a Publix, the fitness studio had been in operation for several years.
The pending closure has not yet been announced on the gym’s social media channels and no reasons for the shuttering have been made public.
While many communities host their own gym facilities, St. Johns County has seen a profusion of fitness studios and gyms in recent years.
