The city’s first signature Hilton-branded hotel located on the Mayo Clinic’s prestigious grounds is set to welcome guests.

Spanning 184,000 squarefeet, the Hilton Jacksonville at Mayo Clinic will boast 252 rooms, 21 suites, and a 21,000-square-foot attached conference center.

“The fact that Jacksonville and Duval County have not had a new full-service hotel built in more than 15 years makes this a significant addition to the market,” Carrie Tawney, director of sales and marketing, told The Citizen. “We’ve had select-service hotels open, but when you think about a full-on, four-star, full-service hotel, we just haven’t had it.”

Tawney noted that while the location on the Mayo campus offers convenience for patients and their families, the property is designed for a wider audience.

“Our strategy is to attract group business, leisure travelers, social events, and weddings. On weekends, we want to be an option for leisure guests who don’t want to pay beach pricing just 3.5 miles away,” she said.

The hotel is co-owned by Mayo Clinic, Concord Hospitality, and investment firm Whitman Peterson. The Davis family donated the land on which Mayo sits, and Mayo provided a land lease for the hotel site.

Features include a resort-style heated pool, an expansive fitness center, EV charging stations, and healthful dining at Coastal Kitchen.

“We’re working with Mayo dietitians to review menu offerings that meet wellness and dietary needs,” Tawney said. “We’ll obviously be a patient hotel, but we’re not built solely for patients — we’re also designed for the medical industry and corporate meetings.”

The grounds will also offer a rear entrance and private elevators that lead straight to guest rooms.

Event facilities include two large ballrooms, the largest at 10,000 square feet with capacity for 500–600 guests, as well as a 5,100-square-foot outdoor event lawn.

“Downtown hotels can’t compete with that,” Tawney said.

Designed by DLR Group, the aesthetic incorporates warm textures, glass, and modern lines inspired by the surrounding landscape. The Mayo shuttle will connect guests to buildings across the campus.

A ribbon-cutting is scheduled for Sept. 30, with booking available starting Oct. 1 via Hilton’s website.

Average nightly rates will range from about $259 to $329, with discounted rates for Mayo patients and families set at between $219 and $269.
