A Ponte Vedra man who was beaten outside a Nocatee restaurant in a viral video was sentenced earlier this month to 30 days in jail after pleading no contest to disorderly intoxication.
The incident unfolded last month, when St. Johns County deputies responded around 8:05 p.m. to reports of a fight outside the eatery.
Officers found 48-year-old Ashish Patel with a bloody cut above his left eyebrow.

Deputies noted that he appeared intoxicated, with bloodshot eyes, unsteady on his feet, and refused to comply with instructions to sit down.
According to the arrest report, the confrontation began inside the restaurant.
Staff said Patel had been involved in multiple disputes, arguing with bartenders and other patrons.
The situation escalated after a father accused Patel of inappropriate behavior toward his young son. In response, Patel allegedly pushed the man, prompting a physical fight outside.
The fight was captured on video and widely shared on social media.

Patel allegedly handed the boy an insensible note that read: “I liked your ‘sure.’ It means I need to be better. HASH.”
Patel told officers he had been “talking to a kid who seemed upset” and referenced his past as a high school math teacher.
In 2022, he was cited for drunk and disorderly conduct at another local restaurant, where management sought to have him trespassed.
