A contractor who fell from a ladder Friday morning at St. Augustine City Hall has died from his injuries.
The worker, a middle-aged man employed by Blanchard Caulking and Coating, suffered life-threatening injuries after falling approximately 15 feet in the building’s courtyard.
He was transported to Flagler Hospital in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries, according to First Coast News.
His death was confirmed by his employer.
Chris Naff, a spokesperson for St. Johns County Fire Rescue, told The Citizen that emergency crews responded quickly and administered aid at the scene before the man was taken to the hospital.
Following the incident, the St. Augustine Police Department announced City Hall would close at noon and remain closed through the weekend, calling the incident a “construction accident.”
The building is expected to reopen Monday.
The identity of the victim has not yet been released.
