A man charged with throwing an explosive device at a car instructed a responding officer to put some mustard on his investigative pace so he could grab some shuteye.
But rather than burrowing under familiar covers, he was escorted to St. Johns County jail and compelled to settle for a state-sponsored cot.
Court papers reveal that a St. Augustine woman called 911 after someone threw an explosive item at her car around 10:30 p.m.
She said she was traveling down King Street with her brother and some friends when they stopped at a red light. She said she looked to her left and saw someone igniting an object with a lighter.
COURT PAPERS REVEAL WHAT LED UP TO DEADLY ROAD RAGE CLASH
After the light changed, both cars proceeded down the road when the suspect allegedly leaned out a window and allegedly hurled something at the victim’s car, she told police.
The item exploded underneath the vehicle. The victim told investigators that she thought the detonation was “going to cause her to crash and possibly injure all occupants in the car.”
The victim relayed the suspect’s name to police along with a photo from his Instagram account. An officer went to his apartment around 1:30 a.m. and quizzed him about the incident.
He told the investigator that he threw a vape at the car because a man who was in the car had called him a “b—-.”
A police report said he had “total disregard” for the situation.

“He told me to hurry my investigation up because he works tomorrow and needs to sleep,” according to court papers.
Unmoved by the impertinent directive, the officer proceeded with an arrest, noting that the teen “tensed up” and tried to pull away from him.
As the officer explained the grounds for the collar, the teen issued one final show of defiance.
“I don’t care,” he said, according to court papers. “He called me a b—-.”
