The boy injured in a Friday hit and run has been identified.

An arrest has been made in a hit-and-run crash that left a Flagler Estates teen badly injured earlier this month.

Maslin Mooney, 14, was waiting for his school bus on Palatka Blvd around 6 a.m. on January 10 when Andrew Robinson, 46, allegedly hit the boy and left the scene.

Mooney was discovered on the side of the road by a resident roughly 45 minutes after the collision.

Robinson was taken into custody on a felony charge of leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury Tuesday afternoon, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.

The agency recovered Robinson’s car and interviewed him soon after the accident, but needed time to build their case.

“SJSO personnel worked tirelessly during this investigation which involved conducting numerous interviews, executing search warrants, examining physical evidence, and processing digital evidence to present a comprehensive case for prosecutors,” the department said.

Mooney was rushed to the hospital after the crash in critical condition, suffering broken bones and a brain bleed.

But the teen has since improved markedly, his church wrote on Facebook last week.

He was released from an ICU unit and entered a rehabilitation center to continue his healing.

“Maslin is making remarkable progress and is improving by leaps and bounds,” the church said in a Facebook post.

  1. Wasn’t there someone that said a girl hit him and was scared or was that just someone making an assumption?
