Famously humble Jaguars rookie Travis Hunter wowed a starstruck airline passenger with his impeccable manners and unpretentious attitude during a recent flight.
Sandy Hawkins Combs, a fellow passenger on the United Airlines trip, shared a heartfelt post on Facebook after sitting next to the NFL’s No. 2 overall draft pick.
According to Combs, she didn’t recognize Hunter at first—but was immediately struck by his kindness and respectful demeanor.
“I had the most wonderful flight home from Denver,” she wrote. “I met the nicest young man who sat next to me. He offered to put my bag in the overhead compartment and helped me with my tray. He was so polite, always saying ‘yes ma’am’ and ‘no ma’am.’”

It wasn’t until other passengers began gawking at Hunter and asking for photos that Combs realized that she was seated next to someone notable.
She turned and asked, “Who am I sitting next to?” after noticing the Jaguars team pants he was wearing.
“He smiled and said, ‘I’m Travis. Yes, I was drafted by the Jags,’” she recalled. “I already told my sons I want his jersey.”
Hunter, who starred at University of Colorado as both a defensive back and wide receiver, became the first two-way player in decades to be considered a top NFL draft prospect.
The Jaguars traded up to secure him with the No. 2 pick—a move now being praised not only for his on-field potential, but for his character.
“He’s so humble and down-to-earth—I would have never guessed he was a professional athlete,” Combs added. “JACKSONVILLE JAGS, you did good! I will be buying tickets.”
Hunter reported to rookie minicamp in Jacksonville over the weekend, where he was all smiles in his first official appearance with the team.
