Diesel fuel in the Jacksonville metro area has surged past $5.79 per gallon, marking a 56% increase from a month ago, according to AAA.
The jump highlights broader fuel cost pressures affecting drivers across the region.
As of today, the average price for regular gasoline is $4.15, up from $3.95 yesterday — a 5.1% daily increase.

Mid-grade fuel now averages $4.60 per gallon, rising 4.6% from yesterday.
Premium gasoline has climbed to $4.95, up 4.3% in just 24 hours.
Diesel currently averages $5.79 per gallon, up 2.5% from yesterday’s $5.66.
Over the past week, regular gas has increased 5.9%, mid-grade 5.5%, premium 4.8%, and diesel 4.4%.
Month-over-month, the rise is more dramatic: regular gasoline is up 43.8%, mid-grade 37.6%, premium 33.1%, and diesel leads with 56.2%.
Compared with a year ago, prices remain elevated. Regular fuel is 35.9% higher, mid-grade 32.1% higher, premium 29.1% higher, and diesel 59.5% higher than last March.
Analysts say global energy market shifts, particularly in the Middle East, are influencing crude oil supplies and fueling price increases.
Local drivers are adjusting to the higher prices at the pump as gas stations continue to respond to volatile market conditions.
