The First Coast YMCA has announced Darryl Head as its new President and Chief Executive Officer, succeeding longtime leader Eric Mann, who will remain through the end of June during the transition.
Head brings 38 years of YMCA experience, beginning as a program participant and ascending through roles as volunteer, part-time staffer, and then senior executive.
Most recently, he served as President and CEO of the YMCA of Northwest North Carolina, supervising 14 branches and four wellness centers, serving nearly 80,000 members and 1,425 employees.

The organization said he launched facility renovations, opened a new center in East Winston-Salem, forged key business partnerships, expanded into new communities, and excelled at fundraising.
“I can honestly say there is no organization that has had more of an impact on my life than the YMCA,” Head said in a statement. “Our best days are ahead of us in the YMCA movement. Together, we can make a meaningful impact in our communities.”
Founded in 1908 in Jacksonville, the First Coast YMCA is one of Northeast Florida’s oldest nonprofits, now operating 14 branches across Duval, St. Johns, Clay, Baker, and Nassau counties.
The association offers fitness centers, youth programs, swim lessons, camps, outreach initiatives, and specialized programs.
