Let’s roll.

After months of anticipation, St. Johns County’s only roller skating rink is preparing to open its doors and crank the beats beginning next month.

Ponce de le Rollin’ is set to debut at 201 Anastasia Blvd. in a space formerly occupied by Bizarre Bazaar along the eclectic commercial stretch.

As the finishing touches go up inside the rink, the owners have also been crowdsourcing the soundtrack.

In recent weeks, Ponce de le Rollin’ took to social media to ask future skaters what they want pumping through the speakers, inviting everything from ’80s rock, freestyle, country, and even polka.

The responses came fast and unfiltered.

Commenters lobbied hard for disco and ’80s classics, with Prince, Journey, and Earth, Wind & Fire earning repeat mentions.

Others pushed for ’90s freestyle, classic hip hop and pop — the kind of high-energy throwbacks longtime rink-goers swear by.

The project won unanimous approval from a St. Augustine board last March after residents endorsed the project, citing a relative dearth of family-oriented recreational options in the area.

Project representative James Whitehouse of the St. Johns Law Group said the goal is to create a small, neighborhood-oriented skating rink that emphasizes community over crowds.

“The vision is a family-friendly youth rink where residents and visitors can come together and enjoy the kind of skating experience many of us grew up with,” Whitehouse told the board.
