A brand-new Publix supermarket is almost ready to fling open its doors in Nocatee, with a grand opening scheduled for Nov. 15, The Citizen has learned.

The 48,387-square-foot store anchors a new retail complex named Marketplace at Nocatee along Valley Ridge Boulevard and will feature an adjoining Publix Liquors next door.

The project, which cost $14 million to build, also includes a pharmacy.

Publix purchased the property at 75 Irondale Road for $6.66 million in May of last year, according to county records.

The Lakeland-based grocer, known for its Pub Subs, popcorn chicken, and amiable staff, will soon have three Nocatee locations.

The new store will join a pair of Publix markets already perched across from each other in the Nocatee Town Center.

One of those stores originally operated under Publix’s Greenwise Market brand, a now-retired organic and specialty food concept, before being remodeled and converted into a traditional.

Construction crews are putting the finishing touches on the new location, which has drawn curious onlookers peeking through its windows in recent weeks.

The supermarket will serve as the anchor for a growing stretch of retail along Nocatee Parkway, with additional storefronts still in development.
