The Aldi’s supermarket brand will mark the grand opening of a new St. Johns County location later this month.

Taking over the space of a former Winn-Dixie, the venue will hold a ribbon-cutting — along with giveaways and prizes — on Thursday, Feb. 26 at 2220 County Road 210 Suite 20.

The brand is also slated to open three additional Jacksonville stores that will replace a pair of former Winn-Dixies and a former Harveys.

Those locales will open by this upcoming summer.

Aldi, a German-based retailer known for its private-label brands, owns roughly 2,200 U.S. stores in 38 states.

The chain inspired the ALDI Aisle of Shame Community Facebook group, which has 3.6 million followers who post reviews of their favorite products and most unusual finds.

Meanwhile, Winn-Dixie has embarked on a major retrenchment as it seeks to stabilize its presence in North Florida and beyond.

The century-old grocery chain unveiled a refreshed brand and a new tagline as it seeks to reassert itself in the Publix-dominated landscape.

Southeastern Grocers, the parent company, has officially been renamed The Winn-Dixie Company this week.

The rebrand featured a new logo and a folksier tone across marketing and social media.

“Bring Home More Good” is its new motto.
