Super Bowl winning gunslinger Drew Brees was never the biggest man on the field — but that didn’t deter him from a Hall of Fame career.

Now the former NFL star is throwing his support behind something equally compact and mighty: sliders.

Smalls Sliders, the nation’s fast-growing mini-burger chain backed by Brees, is officially headed to St. Johns County.

According to the Jacksonville Daily Record, a permit application for a new location has been filed and is set for review in the coming weeks.

If approved, the restaurant will pop up just off County Road 210, across from the Fountains at St. Johns mixed-use development.

The setup is simple, bold, and small by design. An 800-square-foot building with a drive-thru, roughly a dozen parking spaces, and a stripped-down menu focused on cheeseburger sliders, waffle fries, grilled cheese sandwiches, and milkshakes.

Smalls was launched in Baton Rouge in 2019 by Brandon Landry, a former LSU basketball walk-on and the creator of Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux (another Brees-backed concept).

While a Walk-On’s location planned for Durbin Park has been delayed, Smalls is marching down the field.

Now based in Atlanta, the brand has exploded across the Southeast, with 24 locations in nine states and at least two dozen more in the pipeline.

The St. Johns County site would mark its first foray into this part of Florida.

As for prices, a three-slider combo with fries and a drink runs $10.99, individual sliders are $2.79, and milkshakes range from $5.29 to $8.50 depending on size. In other words, no surprises — just comfort food, done fast and right.

“Sliders were usually bar bites,” the company’s website says. “But Brandon knew they could be bigger.”
