A Florida favorite made famous by Guy Fieri’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives will soon dishing its signature brand of down home comfort food in St. Johns County.

Metro Diner will officially open its doors on July 7 at Johns Creek Center, located at 2851 County Road 210 W.

The 3,623-square-foot eatery will seat up to 119 guests between its indoor dining area and outdoor patio.

The newest location is owned and operated by Sage Cree, a longtime Metro Diner partner with 15 years of experience at the company. He said the burgeoning St. Johns area felt like the perfect fit for a new outpost.

“This area is booming but still has that small town feel— the perfect place for a diner that serves the nostalgic flavors you love with a fresh spin that keeps you coming back,” Cree said in a release.

ST. AUGUSTINE CULINARY POWER COUPLE EXPAND REACH

Metro Diner first opened in Jacksonville in 1992 and has since grown to more than 60 locations across the eastern U.S.

The brand became a household name after a 2010 episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives in which the spike-maned gourmand rhapsodized about the diner’s Iron City Meatloaf.

Still, it’s the fried chicken and waffles that remain the undisputed crowd favorite. The dish features a hefty half-fried chicken piled atop a Belgian waffle, dusted with powdered sugar, slathered with strawberry butter, and served with a signature sweet-and-spicy sauce.

Beyond its famed comfort classics, Metro Diner offers hearty breakfast, lunch, and dinner plates all day long, from savory omelets and traditional platters to barbecue ribs and 100% Angus beef burgers.

For now, the St. Johns diner is open daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., but there are plans to extend hours for dinner service in the near future.

A member of the St. Johns County Chamber of Commerce, Cree is a notable supporter K9s For Warriors, a nonprofit that pairs service dogs with military veterans.

The diner offers a standing 10% discount for uniformed first responders and active or retired service members.
