Nease High School has appointed former Duval administrator Matthew Buckley as its new athletic director.
Buckley most recently served as Athletic Director at Edward H. White High School in Jacksonville for four years, before taking on his new role in Ponte Vedra.
The Old Dominion graduate has also worked as an assistant athletic administrator and coached both football and basketball at the high school level, Nease said in a statement to parents this week.
School officials said they are confident that Buckley’s background in program-building will help to maintain and grow the school’s athletic profile.
“We are excited to welcome Matthew Buckley to the Panther Family,” said a statement from Nease administration. “He brings the skills and leadership needed to lead a strong athletic program like ours.”
Buckley’s wife, a Nease alumna, is also excited about the move, as noted by the school’s leadership. “She is absolutely thrilled,” the statement said.
Buckley is expected to begin his role immediately, working with coaches and administrators to prepare for the upcoming 2025–26 school year.
The administrator is replacing former Nease AD Chris Mastoridis, who parted ways with the school in March.
