Odd Birds is spreading its wings.
What started as a scrappy cocktail pop-up in downtown St. Augustine is now shaking things up 300 miles south in the heart of Little Havana, according to a report.
Odd Birds, the brainchild of nightlife vets Cesar Diaz and Asdrubal Martinez, has officially landed in Miami with its newest outpost: Odd Birds Miami Cocktails & Bites.
“It’s absolutely surreal that we’re celebrating ten years of Odd Birds,” Diaz told the Miami New Times. “We’ve made it through hurricanes, a worldwide pandemic, and personal and professional challenges, and here we are.”
The original Odd Birds launched in 2015 in the Old City — more makeshift bar than brick-and-mortar.
But it quickly built a local following with its mix of Latin spirits, speakeasy swagger, and masterful bartenders.
By 2020, the crew had outgrown their first nest and moved operations to a larger spot on Anastasia Island, complete with indoor-outdoor seating, an event space, and a hidden speakeasy.
Now, a decade in, Diaz and Martinez are taking their talents to South Beach. The Miami pop-up is their first crack at South Florida and stays open until 3 a.m.
The bar’s new menu doesn’t stray far from its roots: funky Latin spirits, fresh ingredients, and drinks with names like “Don’t Mess with Messi.”
Food comes courtesy of a partnership with Colombian restaurant Sanpocho, whose crew serves small bites to line your stomach while you experiment with something called a “Bartender’s Call” — basically cocktail roulette.
“Ten years in, and we’re still just doing what we love,” Diaz told the Miami New Times. “And now they’re doing it in two time zones.”
